Jeff Lettes, an entrepreneur and bottom-line communications strategist at heart, founded Silicon Valley-based Global Media Strategy Communications (GMSC) following a 25-year career inside some of the world’s leading startups, Fortune 500 companies, and PR agencies, where he developed and implemented high-impact corporate, community, product and executive-level communications programs. In addition to managing public relations at various agencies for dozens of technology and professional services clients, Jeff has served as Oracle’s VP of Corporate Communications and Applied Materials’ director of worldwide media relations, as well as directed product PR for Informix’s traditional database and tools.
He established GMSC in 2008 to bring together the world’s of traditional product, services and business-tech PR, social marketing, and focused marketing-communications capabilities of Silicon Valley to powerfully capture, package and communicate the innovation that drives success for startup, mid-size and large companies around the world. Jeff is integrally involved with each client, retaining an active, hands-on approach in everything from the creation of a plan to the execution initiatives.
Dylan Tweney, Associate Partner, Content Creation, is an award-winning writer, editor and journalist. As the founder of Tweney Media, a content agency he helps companies communicate through blog posts, online magazines, podcasts, video, and more. Tweney is the former editor-in-chief of VentureBeat, a former Wired editor, and an award-winning tech journalist. At VentureBeat, he managed a global news team of more than a dozen staff journalists and many freelancers from 2011-2015.
He continues to write the site’s “Dylan’s Desk” column, which is a weekly series on Silicon Valley, the tech industry, and the impact of technology on business strategy. Previously, he was a senior editor at Wired, leading the publication’s gadget and business blogs. Prior to that, he worked at three different content startups and wrote widely read columns for national magazines Business 2.0 and InfoWorld.
Ryan Donovan, Associate Partner, has spent the last 26 years building products and brands in the technology and consumer industries. Ryan is a seasoned communicator and strategist to C-level executives who has worked for many years in the PR agency community, managing communications for startups to then-all stars like Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) to Sun Microsystems. Beyond his corporate and product communications expertise, Ryan is a journalist at heart with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Iowa.He has guided many of these companies through significant challenges like HP’s now-infamous board pretexting scandal and the CEO transition from Carly Fiorina to Mark Hurd, to more than 10 significant M&A transactions for HP. Ryan ran technology communications for Visa, helping to usher the leading global payments brand into the digital wallet and mobile payments world, moving it miles ahead of its nearest competitor, MasterCard, and helping it oust HP as the leading technology indicator on the Dow Jones Index.
Michelle McIntyre, Associate Partner, has driven PR campaigns for 15 companies, mostly tech start-ups since she started consulting in 2013. She excels at making technical stories interesting to a mainstream audience and holds 10 awards for results mostly from IBM where she spent 16 years. While there she managed PR for the West Region, VC Group, big data, storage, and social business and collaboration software. Prior to IBM she worked for three PR agencies; one of them named her Employee of the Year.
One of her recent client successes includes media coverage for an app with 180M users; its creator is backed by Cox Media Group, Gannett Co., and Hearst. Another is a social fitness community app backed by VC General Catalyst Partners that gained almost a million new users while working with her, as well as a big data analytics firm that employs several IBM Fellows.
Nancy Sheffield, Associate Partner, for more than 15 years, Nancy Sheffield has enjoyed providing public relations and marketing and communications expertise to technology leaders including Adobe, Cisco, Motorola, Samsung, Toshiba, Xilinx, and a host of innovative startups. Her broad technical background,from semiconductor to the enterprise and cloud, gives her the ability to quickly translate complex information into compelling narratives and award-winning campaigns for heightened corporate visibility, thought leadership, and sales opportunities. Nancy specializes in identifying the unique needs of each organization and developing strategic communications programs that leverage, executive leadership, corporate and product launches, trends and issues, media and analyst relations, customer references, partner programs, awards, and social media.
Paul Sakuma, News & Executive Photography, was staff photographer for the Associated Press for 32 years and has captured some of the world’s best known CEOs, sports personalities and innovative companies for globally distributed AP news and startup to Fortune 500 organizations “in the know”. Paul’s masterful eye is presently capturing the news, executive teams, and events for major corporations to innovative start ups and everything in between.
Chuck Dorcich, Video & Broadcast (shooter, producer) spent over a decade in television and radio news as a radio correspondent for CBS and ABC News and a news shooter for San Francisco Bay Area stations before forming his production company. He combines tight writing skills for network radio news and his love for the composition of quality video to form a production company that meets its deadlines and stays on budget. Chuck and the team has the experience, skills and production know-how to take your project from storyboard to a finished product that will fit your needs to a “T”.
